LAWRENCE NAMED SUNY COBLESKILL’S OUTSTANDING MALE AHTLETE
Michael Lawrence of Newburgh, NY has been selected by the SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department as the 2006 Stanley Nevin's Outstanding Male Athlete Award winner. The Newburgh Free Academy alumnus was a two-year starter for the Fighting Tiger Men's Basketball program and was named to the NJCAA All-Region III Second Team by the Region III coaches and to the First Team All-Mountain Valley Conference Team by the league’s coaches.
The explosive 6’2” senior swingman averaged 21.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest on the season closing his Fighting Tiger career as the program’s eighth all-time leading scorer with 848 career points in 62 career games.
Named in honor of former Fighting Tiger Head Lacrosse/Wrestling/Cross Country Coach Stanley Nevins, the award is presented annually to the Cobleskill senior athlete whose career has been deemed by the college’s athletic staff to be the most outstanding of all male student/athletes in the program.
