FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 10/1/07
The Fighting Tiger women’s soccer team notched three wins during the week posting home victories over Word of Life Bible Institute on Wednesday by a score of 7-0 then upsetting Mohawk Valley Community College on Friday in Mountain Valley Conference play by a 2-1 margin. Cobleskill closed out the week by traveling to Saranac Lake, NY on Sunday to beat North Country Community College by a score of 4-0. Freshman forward Kristen Raina, Granby, MA, Granby High School, scored three goals, including the game winner versus Mohawk Valley, and passed out two assists during the week for Cobleskill which is currently 5-5 overall on the season with a 2-3 mark in league play.
The Cobleskill women’s cross country team posted a team score of 60 points to claim the title at the 2007 Bruce Bridgman Invitational hosted by Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, NY on Friday. Freshman Alex Devine, Cherry Plains, NY, Berlin High School, placed eleventh overall for the Fighting Tigers covering the 5000 meter course in a time of 22:45. The Fighting Tigers are currently ranked first in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll.
Senior Erin Seyforth, Hamden, NY, Delaware Academy, posted a victory at the number two singles position and teamed with freshman with freshman Kristen Ely, Binghamton, NY, Susquehanna Valley High School, to win at the number two doubles position as the Cobleskill women’s tennis program defeated host Adirondack Community College in Glens Falls, NY on Thursday by a score of 5-2. The Fighting Tigers are currently 1-6 overall on the season with a 1-5 mark in conference play.
After dropping a 1-0 overtime road decision to Mohawk Valley Community College on Monday, the Fighting Tiger men’s soccer team won three straight decisions taking to the road to beat Tompkins-Cortland Community College on Wednesday by a score of 1-0, stopping high scoring Genesee Community College 5-2 at home on Saturday, then traveling to North Country Community College on Sunday to post a 3-1 decision. Senior midfielder Essaha Jallow, Bronx, NY, Dewitt Clinton High School, scored three goals in Saturday’s win over Genesee for the Fighting Tigers who are currently 11-1 on the season with a 4-1 record in conference play and ranked third in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll.
Freshman Kevin Wippel, Pine Bush, NY, Pine Bush High School, placed tenth overall at the 2007 Bruce Bridgman Invitational hosted by Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, NY on Friday. Cobleskill posted a team score of 73 points to place third field of six teams for the event. The Fighting Tigers are currently ranked third in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll.
