FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 9/3/07
The Fighting Tiger men’s soccer team captured the championship of the SUNY Delhi Invitational over the weekend in Delhi, NY, by easily handling Alfred State College on Saturday by a 6-0 margin then soundly defeating Jamestown Community College on Sunday by a score of 12-2. Senior midfielder Essaha Jallow, Bronx, NY, DeWitt Clinton High School, scored a goal in the victory over Alfred State and then exploded for a three goal performance against Jamestown on Sunday. Cobleskill starts the season with a 2-0 overall record and is currently ranked ninth in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll.
Senior NJCAA All-American April Ackermann, South Huntington, NY, Sullivan West High School, led the SUNY Cobleskill women’s cross country program to the team championship of the 2007 SUNY Cobleskill Invitational hosted by the Fighting Tigers on Saturday. Ackermann captured the races’ individual championship covering the 3.1 mile course in a time of 18:18 as the Orange & Black posted a perfect score of 15 points in the event.
The Fighting Tiger men’s cross country team posted a team score of 19 points to capture the team’s 2007 SUNY Cobleskill Invitational on Saturday. Freshman Kevin Wipple, Pine Bush, NY, Pine Bush High School, won the meet’s individual championship covering the 5.2 mile loop in a time of 30:10.
