FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 10/2/06
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s soccer team moved to the number fifteen spot in the NJCAA Division III National Poll this week posting home victories over Mohawk Valley Community College, 3-0, Tompkins-Cortland Community College, 3-0, and North Country Community College, 3-0. Freshman goalkeeper Abdou Seck, Bronx, NY, Dewitt Clinton High School, posted all three shutout victories for the Fighting Tigers. Cobleskill is currently 9-1 on the season with a 4-1 mark in Mountain Valley Conference play.
Freshman April Ackermann, Cochecton, NY, Sullivan West High School, won her fourth invitational victory of the season on Saturday capturing the individual title at the Dolphin Invitational hosted by LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY, on Saturday covering the 3.05 mile course in a time of 20:08. The Fighting Tiger women posted a team score of 153 points to place sixth in the twelve team field. Cobleskill is currently ranked second in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll.
The Fighting Tiger women’s soccer team broke a six game losing streak on Saturday defeating visiting North Country Community College on Saturday by a 4-0 margin. Freshman forward Danielle Lum, McDonough, NY, Cincinnatus High School, scored twice on penalty kicks for Cobleskill to secure the victory. With the win the Fighting Tigers move their season record to 1-6 on the year.
The women’s volleyball program continued their winning ways posting a Mountain Valley Conference road victory by scores of 30-19, 30-23 and 30-24 over Adirondack Community College in Glens Falls, NY on Tuesday then defeating visiting Broome Community College on Saturday by scores of 30-18, 30-16 and 30-21. Senior Krista Cohn, Binghamton, NY, Windsor High School, averaged 29.5 assists per game in the wins leading the Fighting Tigers to a 13-5 overall record with a 3-0 mark in conference play.
The Cobleskill men’s cross country team posted a score of 271 points to place tenth in a field of twelve teams at the Dolphin Invitational hosted by LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY, on Saturday. Senior NJCAA All-American Creig Levens, Berlin, NY, Berlin High School, recorded the top finish for the program in the meet covering the five-mile course in a time of 28:32 to place twelfth overall in the field of 132 runners.
