Senior April Ackermann, South Huntington, NY, Sullivan West High School, posted her second consecutive individual conference championship at the 2007 Mountain Valley Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by Mohawk Valley Community College at Proctor Park in Utica, NY on Friday covering the 5000 meter course in a time of 20:58. The Fighting Tiger women posted a team score of 63 points to place third in the five team field. Cobleskill had entered the meet ranked second in the NJCAA Division III National Poll.
The Fighting Tiger men’s soccer team was awarded the top seed in the 2007 NJCAA Region III Division III Championship on Thursday after defeating Broome Community College on Tuesday in Binghamton, NY 1-0 on a second half penalty shot by senior midfielder Essaha Jallow, Bronx, NY, Dewitt Clinton High School. The Fighting Tigers will enter in the tournament with a 15-1 overall record and ranked fourth in the current NJCAA Division III National Poll.
The Cobleskill men’s cross county team posted a score of 53 points to place second in a four team field at the 2007 Mountain Valley Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by Mohawk Valley Community College at Proctor Park in Utica, NY on Friday. Freshman Nick O’Neil, Ballston Spa, NY, Ballston Spa High School, earned All-Mountain Valley Conference honors for the Fighting Tigers placing fifth on the afternoon covering the four-mile course in a time of 22:51. The Fighting Tigers are currently ranked third in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll.
The Fighting Tigers women’s volleyball program split a pair of Mountain Valley Conference home matches this week losing to SUNY Delhi on Tuesday night by scores of 30-20, 27-30, 30-23, 25-30 and 12-15 then defeating Herkimer Community College on Thursday evening by scores of 31-29, 30-21, 25-30, 18-30 and 15-13. Freshman outside hitter Nicole Hunt, St. Johnsville, NY, Dolgeville High School, led the team to victory over Herkimer on Thursday with an 18 dig, 16 kill and two block performance. Cobleskill is currently 15-6 overall on the season and closes league play with a 4-2 record.
The women’s soccer team saw their season end on Saturday falling to Hudson Valley Community College on the Vikings home turf in Troy, NY by a 1-0 margin in the opening round of the 2007 NJCAA Region III Division III Championship Tournament. The Fighting Tigers close the campaign with a 9-8 overall record.
