FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 11/5/07
The Fighting Tiger men’s basketball team opened the 2007-08 campaign on Saturday with a convincing 68-34 win over Clinton Community College on the Cougars home court in Plattsburgh, NY. Freshman power forward Anthony Armstead, Schenectady, NY, Schenectady High School, led Cobleskill with a 15 point/eight rebound effort. Cobleskill is currently ranked twelfth in the season opening NJCAA Division III National Poll.
The Cobleskill women’s basketball team easily handled Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh, NY posting a 63-35 victory over the host Cougars in team’s season opener on Friday night. Freshman guard Nichol Garzon, Brooklyn, NY, Benjamin Cardoza High School, led all scorers in the contest with 17 points on the evening. The Fighting Tigers are currently ranked twelfth in the season opening NJCAA Division III National Poll.
The Fighting Tiger women’s volleyball team was eliminated from the 2007 NJCAA Region III Division III Championship Tournament hosted by Alfred State College in Alfred, NY on Saturday. The Fighting Tigers lost pool-play round matches to Mohawk Valley Community College by scores of 30-24, 30-18 and 30-19 and to Alfred State College by scores of 30-25, 30-20 and 30-15 before defeating SUNY Delhi by scores of 30-20, 27-30 and 30-13. Cobleskill closed the season with a 17-8 overall record for the third consecutive season.
