FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 11/12/07
The Fighting Tiger men’s basketball team posted home wins over: Finger Lakes Community College on Tuesday 82-67, Cayuga Community College on Thursday 99-50 and Clinton Community College on Saturday 73-83. Senior point guard Harley Fuller, Gloversville, NY, Broadalbin-Perth High School, averaged 7.9 points, 8.0 assists, 5.7 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game during the week. The Fighting Tigers are now 4-0 overall on the season and are currently ranked twelfth in the NJCAA Division III National Poll.
Senior April Ackermann, South Huntington, NY, Sullivan West High School, placed second at the 2007 NJCAA Division III National Championships hosted by Suffolk Community College at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, NY on Saturday to earn First Team NJCAA All-American honors for the second consecutive season. Ackermann covered the 5000 meter course in a time of 20:35.65 leading the Fighting Tigers to a fourth place finish with a team score of 101 points.
The Cobleskill women’s basketball team defeated Finger Lakes Community College on Tuesday at home by a 61-59 margin then opened the Mountain Valley Conference season on Thursday with a 67-63 road win over Herkimer Community College in Herkimer, NY. Fighting Tiger freshman center Shelley Pierson, Watervliet, NY, Watervliet High School, scored 10 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the win over Finger Lakes then posted a double/double versus Herkimer with 16 points and 11 rebounds. The Fighting Tigers are ranked twelfth in the current NJCAA Division III National Poll with a 3-0 overall record including a 1-0 mark in league play.
The Fighting Tiger men’s cross country team posted a score of 184 points to place seventh in a field of 18 teams at the 2007 NJCAA Division III National Championships hosted by Suffolk Community College at Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, NY on Saturday. Freshman Nick O’Neil, Ballston Spa, NY, Ballston Spa High School, placed seventeenth overall to lead Cobleskill covering the five-mile course in a time of 28:42.60.
The Fighting Tiger women’s swimming & diving team were defeated in a dual meet versus visiting SUNY Delhi on Saturday at the Bouck Hall Natatorium on Saturday by a score of 420-278. Freshman Tara Belcher, Philmont, NY, Taconic Hills High School, captured the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:18.92 for Cobleskill.
