FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 11/19/07

The Fighting Tiger men’s basketball team posted a pair of victories during the week to push their overall record to 6-0 on the season with a 1-0 mark versus Mountain Valley Conference competition. On Tuesday Cobleskill traveled to Schenectady, NY to defeat the Royals of Schenectady Community College 79-54 in the team’s conference opener. The Orange & Black then defeated visiting Corning Community College on Thursday by a 69-55 margin. Senior power forward Anthony Armstead, Schenectady, NY, Schenectady High School, averaged 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocked shots per contest in the victory. Cobleskill is currently ranked twelfth in the current NJCAA Division III National Poll.

Freshman forward Sharee Daniels, Poughkeepsie, NY, FD Roosevelt High School, lead the Cobleskill women’s basketball team to the championships of the 2007 Spartan Holiday Tournament hosted by Cayuga Community College in Auburn, NY over the weekend. Daniels averaged 14.5 points per game as the Fighting Tigers dismantled the Panthers of Tompkins-Cortland Community College 79-48 on Saturday then took the title versus the host Spartans of Cayuga Community College on Sunday by a 76-45 margin. Cobleskill is currently ranked twelfth in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll with a 6-0 overall record including a perfect 1-0 mark in Mountain Valley Conference play.

The Cobleskill women’s swimming & diving program posted a team score of 174 points to place third in a field of five teams at the 2007 Donald Macomber Starting Block Classic hosted by the Fighting Tigers on Saturday in Cobleskill, NY. Senior Ashley Richichi, Skaneateles, NY, Skaneateles High School, was the top scorer in the meet for the team finishing second in the 1650 Yard Freestyle with a time of 22:33.81, third in the 500 Yard Freestyle in 6:50.89 and sixth in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:35.01.

Senior Sam Adamoschek, Canajoharie, NY, Canajoharie High School, placed eighth in the 100 Yard Freestyle in a time of 1:00.18 as the Fighting Tiger men’s swimming & diving team placed fifth in a field of five teams at the 2007 Donald Macomber Starting Block Classic hosted by the Fighting Tigers on Saturday in Cobleskill, NY.
