FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 12/10/07
The Fighting Tiger men’s basketball program posted a pair of home victories this week defeating Mountain Valley Conference rival Adirondack Community College on Tuesday 83-48 then topping the Ithaca College Junior Varsity on Friday evening by a 100-73 score. Senior forward Stanley Francois, Suffern, NY, Suffern High School, averaged 17.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in the victories as Cobleskill moved to 9-2 overall on the season with a 3-1 record versus conference opponents.
The Cobleskill women’s basketball program ran their record to 11-1 on the year defeating Fulton-Montgomery Community College in Mountain Valley Conference play at home on Thursday evening by a score of 62-34 then establishing a new program record for most points scored in a single game on Saturday afternoon in a 102-33 home victory over Word of Life Bible Institute. Freshman center Shelley Pierson, Watervliet, NY, Watervliet High School, averaged 13.0 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in the victories for the Fighting Tigers who are currently tied for first place in the conference standings with a perfect 3-0 league record.
Senior men’s swimmer Sam Adamoscheck, Canajoharie, NY, Canajoharie High School, met the NJCAA National Championship Qualifying Standards in the 50 Freestyle, 26.03 seconds, and the 100 Freestyle, 58.90 seconds, at the 2007 Herkimer Fall Invitational hosted by Herkimer Community College in Herkimer, NY on Saturday. The Cobleskill men posted a team score of 36 points to place third in the event.
The Cobleskill women’s swimming & diving team posted a score of 186 points to place second at the 2007 Herkimer Fall Invitational hosted by Herkimer Community College in Herkimer, NY on Saturday. Senior Megan Holstead, Laurens, NY, Laurens High School, won the 1000 Freestyle, 14:09.30, and the 500 Freestyle, 6:54.16, for the Fighting Tigers meeting the national qualifying mark in the 500 Freestyle.
