FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 1/22/07
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s basketball team posted home victories over Delhi Tech, 84-76 in overtime, on Tuesday and Columbia-Greene Community College, 80-40, on Thursday to run their overall record to 14-2 on the season with a perfect 6-0 mark in Mountain Valley Conference play. Freshman center/forward Vladimir Colas, Warwick, NY, Warwick High School, averaged 14.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in the victories for Cobleskill. The Fighting Tigers are currently ranked fourth in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll.
The Fighting Tiger women’s basketball program opened the second semester by defeating Mountain Valley Conference rival Adirondack Community College on Thursday by a score of 72-27 then topped visiting Erie Community College on Saturday by a 40-37 margin. The victories push the Cobleskill overall record to 12-3 on the year with a record of 5-0 in league play. Freshman center April Ackermann, South Huntington, NY, Sullivan West High School, scored 17 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and blocked five shots in the Adirondack victory.
The Fighting Tiger women’s swimming & diving team posted a team score of 208 points to place second in a field of five teams at the 2007 SUNY Cobleskill Invitational on Saturday. Senior NJCAA All-American Gabrielle Asay, Greenfield Center, NY, won the 200 Butterfly for Cobleskill in a time of 2:42.95.
Freshman Matt Hatlee, Cobleskill, NY, Schoharie High School, led the Fighting Tiger men’s swimming & diving team to a score of 132 points to finish third in a field of six teams at the 2007 SUNY Cobleskill Invitational on Saturday. Hatlee won the 50 Freestyle, 22.35 seconds, and the 200 Breaststroke, 2:40.69, to pace the Cobleskill attack.
Senior thrower Kyle Robinson, Canastota, NY, Canastota High School, improved his NJCAA Division III National Championship qualifying mark in the 35 lbs Weight Toss at the Syracuse Charger Indoor Track & Field Invitational hosted at Syracuse University’s Manley Fieldhouse on Friday evening in Syracuse, NY. Robinson’s toss of 49’1”bettered his national qualifying effort by two feet in the non-scoring event.
