FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 1/29/07
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s basketball team split a pair of home contests this week defeating Word of Life Bible Institute on Monday by a score of 99-49 then falling to Herkimer Community College on Thursday by a 63-58 margin. The Fighting Tigers are currently 15-3 overall on the season with a 6-1 mark in Mountain Valley Conference play. Freshman forward Stanley Francois, Valley Cottage, NY, Suffern High School, averaged 18.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game for Cobleskill in the games. The Fighting Tigers are currently ranked sixth in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll.
The Fighting Tiger women’s swimming & diving team won the SUNY Dehli Mid-Week Invitational hosted by SUNY Delhi in Delhi, NY on Wednesday posting a score of 76 points to better the three team field. Cobleskill returned to Delhi, NY on Saturday to place second in a field of five teams at the 2007 SUNY Delhi Invitational hosted by SUNY Delhi posting a team score of 154 points in the meet. freshman Meghan Holstead, Laurens, NY, Laurens High School, led Cobleskill to their victory on Wednesday by winning the 500 Freestyle, 6:47.27, and the 1000 Freestyle, 14:08.20.
Senior swimmer Matt Hatlee, Cobleskill, NY, Schoharie High School, led the Cobleskill men’s swimming & diving team to a second place finish at the SUNY Dehli Mid-Week Invitational hosted by SUNY Delhi in Delhi, NY on Wednesday as the Fighting Tigers posted a score of 66 points to then helped the team place third on their return to Delhi, NY on Saturday at the 2007 SUNY Delhi Invitational hosted by SUNY Delhi with a score of 137 points. Hatlee of six individual races entered in, Hatlee posted four victories and had two second place finishes during the week.
Senior thrower Kyle Robinson, Canastota, NY, Canastota High School, placed first in the 35 lbs Weight Throw with a national qualifying toss of 15.16 meters at the prestigious 2007 Class of ’32 Invitational hosted by Colgate University in Hamilton, NY, on Saturday. The Fighting Tigers posted a team score of 22 points to place ninth overall in the event.
Freshman sprinter Regina Morgan, Brooklyn, NY, Prospect Heights High School, placed sixth in the 200 Meters in a time of 27.61 seconds at the prestigious 2007 Class of ’32 Invitational hosted by Colgate University in Hamilton, NY, on Saturday. Led by Morgan the Fighting Tigers placed tenth in the event.
The Fighting Tiger women’s basketball team dropped a pair of Mountain Valley Conference road contests this week fall on Tuesday by a 64-46 margin to Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY then dropping a 65-50 decision to Herkimer Community College in Herkimer, NY. Cobleskill is currently ranked eighteenth in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll with a 12-5 overall record including a 6-2 mark in league play,
