FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 2/12/07
The Fighting Tiger men’s basketball team posted three Mountain Valley Conference victories during the week defeating visiting Mohawk Valley Community College by a score of 72-68 on Tuesday, upsetting NJCAA number four-ranked Fulton-Montgomery Community College on Thursday in Johnstown, NY by a 77-71 margin and defeating visiting Adirondack Community College 64-56 on Saturday. Freshman guard Jayson Taylor, Deer Park, NY, Ossining High School, averaged 21.7 points and 3.0 rebounds per game in the victories as Cobleskill moved to 20-4 on the season with an 11-2 record in league play. The Fighting Tigers are currently ranked eighth in the current NJCAA Division III National Poll.
The Cobleskill women’s basketball team took two of three contests during the week dropping a 45-36 home decision to Mohawk Valley Community College on Tuesday, defeating visiting Fulton-Montgomery Community College on Thursday by a 77-51 margin, and then taking to the road on Saturday to defeat Adirondack Community College by a score of 76-40. Senior center Kim McMillen, Greenville, NY, Greenville High School, averaged 18.0 points and 15.0 rebounds per contest for the Fighting Tigers who are currently 17-6 overall on the season with a 9-3 record versus Mountain Valley Conference opponents.
Freshman jumper Kevin Amilcar, White Plains, NY, White Plains High School, turned in a pair of ninth place finishes in the Long Jump, 6.40 meters, and the Triple Jump, 11.94 meters, for the Fighting Tiger men’s indoor track & field program at the 2007 Kane Invitational hosted by Cornell University in Ithaca, NY over the weekend.
Freshman distance runner Sarah Furman, West Berne, NY, Berne-Knox-Westerlo High School, placed 21st for the SUNY Cobleskill women’s indoor track & field program at the 2007 Kane Invitational hosted by Cornell University in Ithaca, NY over the weekend.
