FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 2/19/07
The Fighting Tiger men’s basketball team split a pair of home contests during the week defeating Holyoke Community College on Tuesday, 76-42, then losing to Fulton-Montgomery Community College on Saturday, 70-68. Cobleskill is currently ranked seventh in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll with a 21-5 overall record on the season with an 11-3 record in Mountain Valley Conference play. Freshman forward Stanley Francois, Valley Cottage, NY, Suffern High School, is currently ranked nineteenth in the nation in field goal percentage connecting on 126 of 208 attempts for a 60.6% shooting percentage.
The Cobleskill women’s basketball team defeated a pair of visiting conference rivals during the week beating Schenectady Community College on Tuesday by a 56-36 score then bettering Columbia-Greene Community College on Friday 86-17. With the victories the Fighting Tigers run their season record to 19-6 overall with an 11-3 mark versus conference competition. Senior center Kim McMillen, Greenville, NY, Greenville High School, is currently ranked fifteenth nationally in rebounds per game at 10.1 rebounds per game and seventeenth in field goal percentage connecting on 143 of 283 attempts for a 50.5% shooting percentage.
The Fighting Tiger women’s indoor track & field team posted a score of 102 to place second at the 2007 NJCAA Region III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday hosted at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. Freshman Keisha Doldron, Brooklyn, NY, Collective Fellowship High School, captured the regional championship in the 400 Meters with a time of 1:09.90 and ran a leg on the Cobleskill’s regional championship Distance Medley Relay which set a new program record in the event at 16:43.80.
The Cobleskill men’s indoor track & field program posted a team score of 85 points to place third at the 2007 NJCAA Region III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Sunday hosted at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY. Freshman Eric Graber, Troy, NY, Lansingburgh High School, won the 800 Meter Championship for the Fighting Tigers in a time of 2:05.60.
Senior Matt Hatlee, Cobleskill, NY, Schoharie High School, captured the 100 Freestyle Championship at the 2007 NJCAA Region III Swimming & Diving Championships hosted by Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY over the weekend. Led by Hatlee’s effort the Fighting Tigers posted a sixth place team finish at the championship meet.
Led by senior NJCAA All-American Gabrielle Asay, Saratoga Springs, NY, the SUNY Cobleskill women’s swimming & diving program posted a third place finish at the 2007 NJCAA Region III Championships hosted by Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY. Asay placed second in the 400 Individual Medley, 5:22.42, second in the 200 Butterfly, 2:30.61, and third in the 200 Backstroke, 2:38.11, meeting the NJCAA National Championship Qualifying Standard in each event for the Fighting Tigers. |
