FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 3/12/07
The SUNY Cobleskill women’s swimming & diving program brought home an eleventh place finish from the 2007 NJCAA National Championships hosted by Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY last week posting a team score of 50 points. Senior Gabrielle Asay, Saratoga Springs, NY, was a three-time All-American performer for the Fighting Tigers as the talented senior placed third in the 400 Meter Individual Medley, 5:20.13, and fourth in the 200 Meter Butterfly, 2:31.28, to garner All-American honors in each event while earning Honorable Mention All-American honors in the 200 Meter Individual Medley, 2:30.23, by placing ninth in the event.
Senior Matt Hatlee, Cobleskill, NY, Schoharie High School, closed out an outstanding season earning NJCAA Honorable Mention All-American status in the 50 Meter Freestyle placing eighth in a time of 22.40 seconds and tenth in the 100 Meter Freestyle with a time of 50.11 seconds and scored in the 100 Meter Breaststroke placing fourteenth with a time of 1:10.72 to earn NJCAA Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-American acclaim at the 2007 NJCAA National Championships hosted by Erie Community College in Buffalo, NY. Led by Hatlee, Cobleskill posted a team score of 25 points to place twelfth overall in the event.
The Fighting Tiger men’s lacrosse team dropped a 19-8 decision to Catonsville Community College in Baltimore, MD on Sunday to open the 2007 season. Freshman attackman/midfielder Andrew Abbott, Onondaga, NY, Onondaga High School, scored five goals and passed out two assists in the game for Cobleskill.
The Cobleskill men’s baseball team dropped a pair of doubleheaders to open the 2007 season losing to Springfield Community College of Springfield, IL by scores of 8-0 and 14-4 then falling to Central Arizona Community College by tallies of 11-1 and 20-1. The Fighting Tigers are currently 0-4 on the season.
