FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 5/7/07
Freshman multi-event athlete Jennifer Villanova, Clifton Park, NY, Shenendehowa High School, led the Cobleskill women’s track & field team to a fourth place finish at the 2007 NJCAA Region III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by SUNY Delhi in Delhi, NY over the weekend. Villanova earned All-Region III honors in the Triple Jump, with an effort of 10.01 meters, and the Long Jump, with a mark of 5.14 meters, winning each event while running a leg on the Fighting Tigers’ Region III Championship 4 X 100 Meter Relay which won the event with a time of 52.8 seconds.
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s track & field team brought home a fifth place finish from the 2007 NJCAA Region III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by SUNY Delhi in Delhi, NY over the weekend. Freshman Eric Graber, Troy, NY, Lansingburgh High School, garnered All-NJCAA Region III Team status by winning the 800 Meters in a time of 2:01.3.
The Fighting Tiger women’s softball team closed the 2007 season with a sweep over visiting North Country Community College on Sunday at Fighting Tiger Park by scores of 15-7 and 8-3. Senior outfielder Sharon Fitzgerald, Greenville, NY, Greenville High School, went 4-for-7 on the day with seven RBI and three runs scored in the victories as Cobleskill finishes the season with a 6-16 overall record including a 3-11 record in Mountain Valley Conference play.
The Cobleskill baseball team ended the 2007 season by dropping a pair of Mountain Valley Conference games on the road to Schenectady Community College in Schenectady, NY on Wednesday by scores of 10-3 and 7-4 then lost to visiting conference rival Columbia-Greene Community College on Friday by a score of 13-4. Senior Ryan Rockefeller, Bolivar, NY, Bolivar-Richburg High School, was 3-for-5 with three stolen versus Columbia-Greene.
SUNY Cobleskill golfers closed the regular season off with a flourish firing a team score of 331 on Saturday at the Corning Community College Invitational to place third in the event then posted a team score of 314 to place fourth at the Tompkins-Cortland Community College Invitational on Sunday. Senior Jordan Brown, Laurens, NY, Laurens High School, fired the best round of the weekend for the Orange & Black with a score of 75 at the Tompkins-Cortland Invitational. |
