FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 2/18/08
The Fighting Tiger women’s indoor track & field team won the 2008 NJCAA Region III Championship hosted at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY on Sunday posting a score of 135 points. Senior NJCAA All-American Jen Villanova, Clifton Park, NY, Shenendehowa High School, scored 37 individual points including Region III Individual Championships in the Pole Vault, 2.39 meters, the Long Jump, 4.89 meters, and the Triple Jump, 9.96 meters, to lead the team their first NJCAA Region III Championship in program history. The Fighting Tiger women captured four individual and one relay regional championship and had eight All-Region III Team selections for the championship. Cobleskill Head Coach Brad Fichthorn was honored as the 2008 NJCAA Region III Women’s Coach-of-the-Year for the team’s efforts.
Senior Harley Fuller, Gloversville, NY, Broadalbin-Perth High School, established a new program record for career assists as the Fighting Tiger men’s basketball team defeated Holyoke Community College at home on Friday by a score of 104-50 then traveled to Johnstown, NY on Saturday to defeat Fulton-Montgomery Community College 78-65 in Mountain Valley Conference action. Fuller had 10 assists in the Holyoke game then equaled his career high of 13 versus Fulton-Montgomery to give him a career total of 382. Cobleskill is currently ranked eighth in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll with a 22-3 overall record including an 11-2 mark in conference play.
The Cobleskill women’s basketball team posted a pair of impressive home victories over the weekend stopping Holyoke Community College by a score of 60-40 on Saturday then running away from Niagara Community College on Sunday by an 81-23 margin. Freshman Sharee Daniels, Poughkeepsie, NY, F.D. Roosevelt High School, scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds in the victory over Niagara to go with an 11 point, three rebound, three assist performance in the win against Holyoke. The Fighting Tigers are currently 22-4 overall on the season.

Cobleskill captured five individual and one relay championship at the meet leading to 10 NJCAA All-Region III Team honors on the day. Freshman Joe Valentin, Swan Lake, NY, Liberty High School, won the 35 lbs Weight Throw with a toss of 13.63 meters.
