FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 2/24/08

The Fighting Tiger women’s basketball team equaled the program record for most wins in a single-season by closing out the regular season with a pair of Mountain Valley Conference home victories during the week defeating SUNY Delhi 58-52 on Tuesday then handling Hudson Valley Community College on Thursday by a score of 78-44. Freshman Laura Tisinger, Gloversville, NY, Gloversville High School, posted career highs in points with 13 and rebounds with eight versus Hudson Valley as the Fighting Tigers equal the program record for most wins in a single season with a 24-4 overall mark.

The Cobleskill men’s basketball team closed the season with a 22-6 overall record after dropping conference contests to: Herkimer Community College on Monday at home by a score of 74-71, on the road at Mohawk Valley Community College 77-72, then closing with a 110-104 overtime home loss to Hudson Valley Community College on Friday. Senior forward Stanley Francois, Valley Cottage, NY, Suffern High School, posted double/doubles in points and rebounds versus Mohawk Valley and Hudson Valley on the week averaging 17.3 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. The Fighting Tigers are currently ranked eighth in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll.

Freshman mid-distance runner Emille Barnett, Huntington, NY, John Glenn High School, established a new Fighting Tiger men’s indoor track & field team record in the 600 Meter Dash at the 2008 Marc Deneault Memorial Invitational hosted by Cornell University on Saturday in Ithaca, NY. Barnett won the event with a new program record time of 1:23.37.

The Fighting Tiger women’s indoor track & field program competed at the 2008 Marc Deneault Memorial Invitational hosted by Cornell University in Ithaca, NY on Saturday. Senior NJCAA All-American Regina Morgan, Brooklyn, NY, turned in the Fighting Tigers best individual performance at the meet placing eleventh in the 500 Meter Dash with a time of 1:28.54.
