FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 1/21/08
The Fighting Tiger men’s basketball team opened the second semester action defeating visiting Columbia-Greene Community College in Mountain Valley Conference play on Thursday by a 93-60 margin then took to the road on Sunday to defeat the Cazenovia College Junior Varsity in Cazenovia, NY by a 101-52 score. Senior Anthony Armstead, Schenectady, NY, Schenectady High School, averaged 20.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.5 blocked shots per game in the victories for the Fighting Tigers who are currently ranked ninth in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll with a 13-2 overall record including a 4-1 mark in Mountain Valley Conference play.
Senior forward April Ackermann, South Huntington, NY, Sullivan West High School, tossed in a season high 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Cobleskill women’s basketball team opened the 2008 portion of their schedule by traveling to Glens Falls, NY, on Thursday to dismantle the Timberwolves of Adirondack Community College by a 67-33 margin in Mountain Valley Conference action. The victory pushes the Fighting Tigers overall record to 14-1 on the season with a perfect 4-0 mark in league play. The Fighting Tigers are currently ranked ninth in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll.
Fighting Tiger men’s indoor track & field team senior sprinter David Suarez, Hauppauge, NY, Hauppauge High School, won the 55 Meter Dash with a time of 6.58 seconds then captured the 200 Meters by establishing a new program record in the event with a time of 22.87 seconds at the 2008 RIT Indoor Track & Field Invitational hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY on Saturday.
The Cobleskill women’s indoor track & field team traveled to Rochester, NY on Saturday to compete in the 2008 RIT Indoor Track & Field Invitational hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, NY. Senior NJCAA All-American Jen Villanova, Clifton Park, NY, Shenendehowa High School, placed fourth in the in the Long Jump with a mark of 16’ 4 ½” to lead the Fighting Tigers in the non-scoring event.
