FIGHTING TIGER WEEKLY RECAP 4/3/06
The Fighting Tiger men’s baseball team took two of three contests over the weekend taking to the road to defeat Holyoke Community College in Holyoke, MA 14-6 on Friday, losing to visiting Community College of Rhode Island 12-1 on Saturday then defeating Sullivan Community College by a 17-6 margin on Sunday. The Fighting Tigers were led by freshman third baseman Adam Cernauskus, Cobleskill, NY, Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, who had a home run, triple and four RBI in the win over CCRI. Cernauskus went 5-for-9 over the weekend including four runs scored and five RBI.
Freshman Kaylan Ostrander, Queensbury, NY, Queensbury High School, turned two national qualifying performances for the Fighting Tiger women’s track & field program on Saturday at the Bantam Invitational hosted by Trinity College in Hartford, CT. Ostrander met the NJCAA Division III Outdoor National Qualifying Standard in the 400 Meters placing fifteenth in a time of 1:06.25 and in the Pole Vault placing fourth with a mark of 2.13 meters.
Senior thrower Mike Craft, Colonie, NY, Colonie High School, turned in a national qualifying performance for the Fighting Tiger men’s track & field program on Saturday at the Bantam Invitational hosted by Trinity College in Hartford, CT. Craft met the NJCAA Division III Outdoor National Qualifying Standard in the Discus placing fourth with a mark of 38.23 meters.
The Cobleskill men’s tennis team opened the 2006 season falling to national power Monroe Community College by a 7-2 margin in Rochester, NY on Sunday. Freshman number one single Steve Weiss, Green Island, NY, Heatley High School, was victorious by scores of 6-2 and 6-2.
