BARNETT NAMED FIGHTING TIGER ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK
The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced today that freshman Emille Barnett, Huntington, NY, John Glenn High School, a member of the men’s outdoor track & field team has been named the athletic program’s Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week.
Barnett was a two-time All-American for the Fighting Tigers at the 2008 NJCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championships hosted by SUNY Delhi in Delhi, NY over the weekend. The talented freshman won the national title in the 800 Meters with a time of 1:56.41 and anchored the Fighting Tigers national championship 4 X 800 Meter Relay which established a new program record for the event in a time of 7:50.63.
Led by Barnett, the Fighting Tigers posted the men’s team’s best finish in program history at the NJCAA Championships as Cobleskill posted a team score of 116 points to tie for second place in the field of 23 teams. |
