SUNY COBLESKILL’S FRANCOIS NAMED NJCAA BASKETBALL PRE-SEASON ALL-AMERICAN
The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced today that the SUNY Cobleskill men’s basketball team member Stanley Francois, Suffern, NY, Suffern High School has been named to the NJCAA Division III Second All-American Team for the 2007-08 season. The 6’3 forward was selected to the All-Mountain Valley Conference Team and All-NJCAA Region III Team last season after averaging 12.7 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 steals in 29 games shooting an impressive 57.6% from the field.
“Stanley’s not only a good player but he is a great person cut from the same cloth as some of our former outstanding players like Daniel Pierre or Charlie Wood,” said Fighting Tiger Head Coach Kevin McCarthy. “He is a high energy player on the court who is a warrior in the mold of a Charles Barkley or Sean Marion.”
The Fighting Tigers have started this year ranked twelfth in the 2007 NJCAA Division III Pre-Season National Poll after completing the 2006-07 campaign with a 21-8 overall record and recording their fifteenth NJCAA post season appearance during the tenure of Head Coach Kevin McCarthy. Cobleskill will open the season on Saturday November 3rd when they travel to Plattsburgh, NY to meet the Cougars of Clinton Community College with tip-off at 1:00 PM.
