SUNY COBLESKILL SEEDED FOURTH IN REGION III DIVISION III MEN’S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT FIELD
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s basketball team has been awarded a number four seed for the 2007 NJCAA Region III Division III Championship Tournament. The Fighting Tigers will receive a bye in the tournament’s sub-regional round scheduled to begin on Tuesday February 27th at the higher seeds home court. Cobleskill will advance directly to Friday March 2nd’s Quarterfinal Round hosted by Herkimer Community College in Herkimer, NY and will play at either 1:00 PM or 3:00 PM. In all twelve teams have been selected and seeded to play in this year’s version of the tournament which will see the Quarterfinals thru Championship game played at Herkimer Community College from Friday March 2nd thru Sunday March 4th.
The tournament begins on Tuesday night when the number twelve seeded Hawks of Mohawk Valley Community College (16-11) travel to Canandaigua, NY to meet the defending NJCAA Region III Division III Champion Lakers of Finger Lakes Community College (20-9). In other action the number eleven seeded Cougars of Clinton Community College (18-12) will travel to Troy, NY to meet the number six seeded Vikings of Hudson Valley Community College (21-9). In Tuesday’s remaining games the number ten seeded Saints of North Country Community College (17-10) will travel to Binghamton, NY, to meet the Hornets of Broome Community College (18-10) and the number nine seeded Spartans of Corning Community College (17-11) will travel to Delhi, NY, to meet the number eight seeded Broncos of Delhi Tech (14-12).
Friday’s afternoon session will feature: the number one seeded Raiders of Fulton-Montgomery Community College (21-4) versus the winner of the Corning Community College/Delhi Tech game and the number four seeded Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill (21-7) meeting the winner of the Mohawk Valley Community College/Finger Lakes Community College game with starting times as yet to be determined.
The late session on Friday will see the host number two seeded Generals of Herkimer Community College, in action against the winner of the North Country Community College/ Broome Community College winner at 6:00 PM. The other game in the session will feature the number three seeded Lazers of Onondaga Community College (23-7) versus the winner of the Clinton Community College/Hudson Valley Community College game at 8:00 PM.
