COBLESKILL’S FRANCOIS NAMED TO PLAY IN NJCAA BASKETBALL COACHES ASSOCIATION ALL STAR CLASSIC
The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Men’s Basketball Coaches Association announced today that SUNY Cobleskill All-Region III senior forward Stanley Francois, Valley Cottage, NY, Suffern High School, has been named to play in the NJCAA Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Classic on Sunday April 20th at Scottsdale Community College in Scottsdale, AZ with tip-off at 1:00 PM. The event is sponsored by the New Balance Corporation and is a showcase for the top junior college players in the nation. Francois will compete in the Division II/Division III game followed at 3:00 PM by the NJCAA Division I game.
The 6’2” 205lbs forward was a Pre-Season NJCAA Division III All-American Team honoree and closed his career as a two-time All-NJCAA Region III Division III Team and two-time All-Mountain Valley Conference Team selection. During this past season the Fighting Tiger co-captain averaged 11.6 points, 8.5 rebounds, 1.3 steals, 1.0 assists and 0.5 blocked shots per game this season while converting on 149-of-234 shots from the field for a shooting percentage of 63.7%. The talented forward also posted 11 double/doubles in points and rebounds for the Fighting Tigers scoring in double figures 21 times and taking down double figures in rebounds on 14 occasions.
Francois helped lead Cobleskill to the 2008 NJCAA Region III Division III Championship for the third time in program history and to the “Final Four” of the NJCAA Division III National Championship Tournament earning All-Tournament Team Honors for his play at the event. Led by the Valley Cottage, NY native the Fighting Tigers posted a 26-8 overall record during the campaign.
