FRANCOIS NAMED FIGHTING TIGER ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK

The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced today that senior Stanley Francois, Valley Cottage, NY, Suffern High School, a member of the men’s basketball program has been named the athletic program’s Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week.

The 6’2” forward was named to the All-Tournament Team of the 2008 NJCAA Division III Championship Tournament over the weekend hosted by SUNY Delhi in Delhi, NY. Francois averaged 9.0 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists per contest connecting on 10-of-20 shots from the field for a shooting percentage of 50.0% for the tournament.

The Fighting Tigers advanced to the “Final Four” of the for the second time in program history by defeating Middlesex Community College of Edison, NJ in the quarterfinals by a score of 58-56 before losing in the semifinals to Joliet Junior College from Joliet, IL 75-55. Cobleskill closed the season losing in the tournament’s consolation game to Hostos Community College of the Bronx, NY 58-56 to finish the year with a 26-8 overall record.
