Assistant Coach

Dr. John Tryon

Dr. John Tryon begins his fourth yearas assistant coach in the Fighting Tiger program.  Dr. Tryon has served as a professor of Animal Science at SUNY Cobleskill for 23 years.  The former Schoharie High School standout has been an avid basketball player, coach and fan all his life.  He has organized coaching experience in basketball, baseball and soccer at the elementary and middle school levels. 

Tryon also brings international experience to the staff having played for Team USA in the Bob Cousy International Invitational Tournament held in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1996.  Tryon has also played for several community recreational basketball leagues.
Tryon is a graduate of SUNY Cobleskill, the University of Georgia and Cornell University.  He lives in Cobleskill with his wife, Bonnie.  They have two grown sons, Matthew and Andrew.
