FIGHTING TIGER LINKSTERS COMPLETE WESTERN NEW YORK SWING
The SUNY Cobleskill golf team completed their annual mid-season western New York swing over the weekend with mixed results. The weather had limited the Fighting Tigers to only on event to date because of unplayable course conditions throughout New York this spring.
The Fighting Tigers started the road-trip sluggishly tying for sixth place in a field of seven complete teams posting a team score of 347 at the Jaguar Invitational hosted Jamestown-Olean Community College at the Bartlett Country Club. Senior Joe Winski, Youngsville, NY, Sullivan West High School, paced the team with a round of 83 on the day. Cobleskill also received scoring performances from: freshman Andy Kincaid, Horseheads, NY, Horseheads High School, who shot a round of 86, freshman Josh Solon, Rome, NY, Rome Catholic High School, who posted a score of 87 and from senior Josh Gangaware, Lake Luzerne, NY, Hadley-Luzerne High School, with a score of 90.
On Sunday the Orange & Black spread their claws at the Jayhawk Invitational hosted by Jamestown Community College at the Chautauqua Country Club posting their best finish of the season firing a team total of 323 to place fourth in the field of 10 complete teams. Cobleskill showed exceptional balance as Joe Winski, Andy Kincaid and Josh Solon each shot rounds of 80 and Josh Gangaware rounded out the team scoring with a round of 83.
After the weekend’s action the Fighting Tigers currently rank fifth in NJCAA Region III in team scoring average posting an average of 335.67 shots per round.
Cobleskill will return to action Friday April 27th when the team travels to the Kingswood Country Club for the Adirondack Community College Invitational, before traveling to Delhi, NY on Saturday April 28th for the Bronco Invitational hosted by SUNY Delhi at the Delhi Golf & Country Club. The Fighting Tigers are then currently scheduled to host the 2007 Mountain Valley Conference Championships at the Cobleskill Golf & Country Club if course condition allow play.
