COBLESKILL GOLF POSTS A PAIR OF 4TH PLACE FINISHES OVER WEEKEND
Once again the SUNY Cobleskill golf team braved the elements over the weekend as high winds, wet weather and muddy conditions continued to plague upstate New York this spring. On Friday Cobleskill posted a team score of 308 at the Adirondack Community College Invitational hosted by Adirondack Community College at the Kingswood Country Club in Hudson Falls, NY as the only complete team competing in the field. The Fighting Tiger then posted a team score of 328 on Saturday to finish fourth of the six NJCAA programs competing at the 2007 SUNY Delhi Invitational hosted by SUNY Delhi at the Delhi Golf & Country Club in Delhi, NY. Then on Sunday the Fighting Tigers posted a team score of 330 to place fourth at their own SUNY Cobleskill Invitational hosted at the Cobleskill Golf & Country Club in Cobleskill, NY.
On Friday freshman Adam Van Brocklin, Lowville, NY, Lowville High School, led the squad posting a round of 74 while senior Joe Winski, Youngsville, NY, Sullivan West High School, and senior Josh Gangaware, Lake Luzerne, NY, Hadley-Luzerne High School, each recorded a round of 78 on the day. Senior Darren Clark, Campbell, NY, Campbell-Savona High School, closed out the scoring for the Fighting Tigers with a round of 79.
The SUNY Delhi Invitational saw Joe Winski fire the best round of the event for the Fighting Tigers with a score of 80 followed closely by freshman Josh Solon, Rome, NY, Rome Catholic High School, who posted a round of 81 on the day. Cobleskill also received scoring performances from Adam Van Brocklin a round of 82 and Josh Gangaware who posted a score of 85 on the day.
Playing on the home course on Sunday the Fighting Tigers were led by freshman Andy Kincaid, Horseheads, NY, Horseheads High School, who fired a round of 77 under cold, wet and windy conditions. Joe Winski carded a round of 83 for Cobleskill while Josh Solon and Josh Gangaware closed the team scoring with identical rounds of 85.
The Fighting Tiger return to action on Monday when they travel to Rochester, NY for the Monroe Community College Invitational.
