SUNY COBLESKILL GOLF WINS SIXTH CONSECUTIVE MOUNTAIN VALLEY CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP
Much like the New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves are to their respective divisions in major league baseball the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers are in Mountain Valley Conference Golf. On Friday afternoon at the Mountain Valley Conference Championships, hosted by Cobleskill at the Cobleskill Golf & Country Club, the Fighting Tigers posted a team score of 334 to capture their sixth consecutive conference title.
Freshman Joe Winski, Youngsville, NY, Sullivan West High School, won the MVC Individual Championship posting a round of 80 to claim all-conference honors. Joining Winski on the all-league team were freshman Josh Gangaware, Lake Luzerne, NY, Hadley-Luzerne High School, who tied for third place with a round of 83 and senior Darren Clark, Campbell, NY, Campbell-Savona High School, who placed fifth overall with a score of 85. The Cobleskill scoring was rounded out by freshman Jordan Brown, Laurens, NY, Laurens High School, who finished sixth with a round of 86 to also earn All-Mountain Valley Conference acclaim. Senior Nick Hogan, Windsor, NY, Deposit High School, rounded out the Fighting Tiger entrants posting a round of 96 for the tournament.
Fighting Tiger Head Coach Dr. Gerald Hisert was named the 2006 Mountain Valley Conference Coach-of-the-Year for his team’s efforts. The league title was the Fighting Tigers ninth conference title under Hisert’s direction.
