FIGHTING TIGER LINKSTERS 3RD AT 2005 NJCAA REGION III CHAMPIONSHIPS
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s golf team fired a two-day total of 661, 329 & 332, to bring home a third place finish in a field of twelve teams at the 2005 NJCAA Region III Championship Tournament hosted by Tompkins-Cortland Community College at the Cornell University Golf Course.
The Fighting Tigers were led by senior Shaun Marcellus, Hamilton, NY, Hamilton High School, who earned First Team All-Region III Team honors by placing fifth overall with a two-round total of 158, 80 & 78. Senior Matt Schulte, Oneonta, NY, Oneonta High School, also earned Second Team All Region III honors for Cobleskill finishing in a ninth place tie with a score of 165, 80 & 85, for the event. Marcellus and Schulte will represent Cobleskill at the 2005 NJCAA Division III National Championships hosted by Jamestown Community College in Jamestown, NY at the Chautauqua Golf Club in Jamestown, NY from June 6th thru June 10th.
Cobleskill also received scoring efforts from senior Ryan Dwyer, Theresa, NY, Indian River High School, 85 & 85, and senior Dan Spano, Schenevus, NY, Schenevus High School, 86 & 84, who each tied for twenty-first place with identical scores of 170. Freshman Mark McGraw, Hancock, NY, Hancock Central High School, also competed for the Fighting Tigers at the event posting a score of 175, 84 & 91, to finish in thirty-first place in the competition.
