CZEPIEL NAMED 2004 SUNY COBLESKILL MALE SCHOLAR ATHLETE
SUNY Cobleskill golf team standout Todd Czepiel, Booneville, NY, Adirondack High School, has been named the 2004 recipient of the athletic program’s Nick Iorio Scholar Athlete Award. The award was presented to Czepiel at the college’s recent annual Athletic Awards Convocation.
The Iorio Award is given to a two-year Fighting Tiger male athlete who has been successful on the playing field and attained excellence in the classroom during his Cobleskill career. On the links Czepiel has proven to be one of the most successful players in Cobleskill history twice earning All-Mountain Valley Conference honors a well as twice earning All-NJCAA Region III honors. As a freshman Czepiel won the Mountain Valley Conference Individual Championship, the NJCAA Region III Individual Championship and placed thirteenth at the NJCAA National Championships to earn All-American honors. His is the golf program’s two-time Most Valuable Player leading the team in stroke average at 76.5 shots per round this season and has once again qualified for the NJCAA Division III National Championships the coming June in Jamestown, NY.
In the classroom the Booneville, NY native has earned well over a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale majoring in Cobleskill’s Turfgrass Management program.
The award is presented yearly in honor of the late Nick Iorio Cobleskill’s long-time Dean-of-Students/Athletic Director.
