FIGHTING TIGER GOLFERS PLACE FOURTH AT REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The SUNY Cobleskill golf program came up short in their quest for a third consecutive NJCAA Division III Championship Tournament appearance placing fourth in a field of 10 teams at the 2004 Region III Championships hosted at the Delhi Tech Golf Club in Delhi, NY with a team score of 642 for the event.
Fighting Tiger Team members freshman Ryan Dwyer, Theresa, NY, Indian River High School, and senior Todd Czepiel, Booneville, NY, Adirondack High School, earned All-Region III in the tournament to qualify individually for the NJCAA Division III National Championship Tournament to be hosted by Jamestown Community College at the at the Chautauqua Golf Course in Chautauqua, NY from Monday June 7th thru Friday June 11th. Dwyer posted a two-day total of 153, 77 & 76, to place fourth overall in the event while Czepiel fired a 157, 77 & 80, to place 11th in the field of 45 participants and earn his way to the national tournament for the second consecutive season. Czepiel was an NJCAA All-American honoree in 2003 placing 13th overall in the event.
Rounding out the scoring for the Fighting Tigers were senior Seth Markley, Sauquoit, NY, Sauquoit High School, with a total of 163, 79 & 84, freshman Shaun Marcellus, Hamilton, NY, Hamilton High School, with a score of 170, 79 & 91, and senior Steven Cole, Cobleskill, NY, Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, 175, 86 & 89.
