COBLESKILL LAX GROUNDS MVCC HAWKS 9-8 IN HOME OPENER
Battling mud, darkness and intermittent snow squalls the SUNY Cobleskill men’s lacrosse team stormed back from a three goal halftime deficit to shoot down visiting Mountain Valley Conference rival Mohawk Valley Community College by a 9-8 margin in the Fighting Tigers’ season opener. Cobleskill opens the year 1-0 overall and in league play after clipping the Hawks.
“Our kids didn’t hang their heads when we were down three goals at the half and played with a great deal of heart and intensity which got us the win,” said Fighting Tiger Head Coach Tim Dobs. “We worked very hard today after a slow start, this was a good way to begin the season. We still need to play better and continue to improve but we’re heading in the right direction.”
Trailing by three goals going into the third period Cobleskill shot the Hawks out of the air behind exploding for five goals in the period behind the play of senior Adam Tegnander, Amsterdam, NY, Amsterdam High School, who notched four goals on the afternoon and freshman Keith Colf, Penn Yan NY, Penn Yan Academy, who score three times and passed out an assist on the afternoon.
