FIGHTING TIGER LAX DOWNS MVCC 23-11 IN SEASON FINALE
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s lacrosse team closed the 2005 season on a positive note defeating visiting Mountain Valley Conference rival Mohawk Valley Community College by a 23-11 margin. With the victory the Fighting Tigers closed the season with a 1-9 overall record including a 1-4 mark versus conference opponents.
Freshman midfielder Tom Cunningham, Skaneateles, NY, Skaneateles High School, almost single handedly overpowered the Hawk by shredding the visitor’s defense for nine goals and three assists in the victory. Senior attackman Chris Livingston, Schenectady, NY, Schenectady High School, also played a major role in the win closing out his Cobleskill career in style with a seven goal three assist performance.
The Fighting Tigers also received scoring efforts from freshman midfielder Albert Lansing, Niskayuna, NY, Niskayuna High School, with three goals and one assist, and freshman attackman Kevin Redmond, Skaneateles, NY, Skaneateles High School, with two goals and one assist. Freshman attackman Cory Guastella, Mastic Beach, NY, William Floyd High School, also tallied a goal for Cobleskill in the win.
Fighting Tiger goalie freshman Tim Hughes, Wallkill, NY, Wallkill High School, recorded his first career victory stopping 16 Hawk shots-on-goal. Cobleskill reserve goalie freshman Dan Desalvo, Wappingers Falls, NY, Roy C. Ketcham High School, also made a key first half save for Cobleskill while Hughes was serving a penalty.
The victory also marked the first intercollegiate victory for first year Fighting Tiger Head Coach Todd Weil. |
