FIGHTING TIGER LAX POUNDS DEAN COLLEGE 13-6 IN SEASON FINALE
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s lacrosse team closed the 2003 season in style pounding the visiting Bulldogs of Dean College by a 13-6 margin on Saturday. The Fighting Tigers close the season with a 3-7 overall record on the year.
“This was a good way to end the season because our kids played with a lot of heart and emotion for the entire game,” said Fighting Tiger Head Coach Tim Dobs. “We had people who haven’t played extended minutes step up and play well today, especially our seniors. When Dean made a run at us late we kept our heads up and kept playing hard which is the reason we won.”
The Fighting Tiger offense was led by senior Brett Scales, Canandaigua, NY, Canandaigua Academy, who turned in his best career effort with a two goal/three assist performance. Fighting Tiger leading scorer senior Adam Tegnander, Amsterdam, NY, Amsterdam High School, closed his Fighting Tiger career in style with a four goal outing. Cobleskill freshman Keith Colf, Penn Yan, NY, Penn Yan High School, turned in another stellar performance with three goals on the day while freshman Brian Palmer, Port Dickenson NY, Chenango Valley High School, scored twice in the contest.
Freshman Chad Dyminski, Rochester NY, West Irondequit High School, played the role of set-up man in the contest equaling his career high with three assists in the contest. The Fighting Tiger scoring was rounded out by freshman Rich Roses, Islip Terrace NY, East Islip High School, and freshman Josh Salisbury, Schenectady NY, Schalmont High School, who each scored a goal.
The Fighting Tiger defense was anchored by freshman goalie Chuck Byrne, New Rochelle, NY, New Rochelle High School, who made 24 saves in the game and senior defender Chris Tambasco, Amsterdam, NY, Amsterdam High School, who picked up 11 ground balls in the contest. |
