Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Ryan Gunzinger
Ryan Gunzinger enters his second season at the helm of the SUNY Cobleskill men’s lacrosse program after leading the Fighting Tigers to a 4-7 mark during the 2007 season the best program record in over a decade. Since becoming the eighth head coach in program history the Fighting Tiger mentor has increased the Cobleskill roster and expanded the program’s schedule.
Born and raised in Cobleskill, NY, Gunzinger is a 1995 graduate of Cobleskill-Richmondville High School, having played Football, Baseball and Basketball for the Bulldogs. During his prep career Gunzinger was honored three times as an All-Tri Valley Conference Team selection in Baseball while capturing all-conference honors in basketball once. He was a member of three conference championship teams in baseball and one league championship team in basketball.
Upon graduation from high school, he attended Herkimer Community College in Herkimer, NY where he was a two-year member of the men’s baseball program earning his AAS Degree in Sports Management in 1997. Gunzinger graduated with is BS in Sports Management from the University of West Virginia in 2000. After completing his degree, he returned to the Capital Region accepting a job with the then Pepsi Arena in the front office while simultaneously working for the Albany Conquest of the Arena Football League through 2002. He then joined the Fighting Tiger staff in the position of Technical Assistant/Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach in 2006 after working in the private sector for several years.
Gunzinger and his wife Tonya, a SUNY Cobleskill alumnus and former Fighting Tiger athlete, currently reside in the town of Richmondville, NY.
