CAMPBELL NAMED FIGHTING TIGER ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK

The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced today that freshman Hugh Campbell, Bronx, NY, Evander Childs High School, a member of the men’s soccer program has been named the athletic program’s Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week

The talented striker scored with 9:04 remaining in overtime to lead Cobleskill to a 2-1 victory over Broome Community College in the first round of the 2005 NJCAA Region III Division III Tournament in Cobleskill on Saturday. Campbell also had an assist for the Cobleskill in the victory for the Fighting Tigers in their first post-season appearance since the 2000 season. The Fighting Tiger rookie was also instrumental in the Fighting Tigers 3-2 overtime victory over Broome on Tuesday in Binghamton, NY with two goals and an assist. He also had an assist in the team’s 5-0 win over Adirondack Community College.  

Cobleskill is currently 10-5-1 on the season and will next travel to Herkimer Community College in Herkimer, NY on Tuesday October 25th for a quarterfinal contest beginning at 6:00 PM. The opposing Generals are currently ranked number one in the NJCAA Division III National Poll with a 16-1 overall record.
