COBLESKILL’S CAMPBELL NAMED REGION III MALE-ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK

Senior Hugh Campbell, Bronx, NY, Evander Childs High School, a member of SUNY Cobleskill’s the men’s soccer team, has been named the NJCAA Region III Male Athlete-of-the-Week by the region’s service bureau.

The Fighting Tiger forward notched a pair goals and contributed an assist in the team’s 4-0 regular season finale victory over visiting Broome Community College on Tuesday October 17th at the SUNY Cobleskill Soccer Complex. On the regular season Campbell led the team in scoring with 13 goals and six assists for a total of 32 points on the season.

Fighting Tigers concluded the regular season by tying the program record for most wins in year posting a 14-1 overall record including a 5-1 mark in Mountain Valley Conference play. The team then tied Mohawk Valley Community College in the Quarterfinals of the Region III Division III Championship Tournament in Cobleskill on Tuesday 0-0 in double overtime advancing to the Region III Semifinals by winning a shootout with the visiting Hawks by a 3-1 margin. Campbell contributed the second goal for the Fighting Tigers in the shootout. Cobleskill is currently ranked sixth in the latest NJCAA Division III National Poll the program’s highest national ranking since the 1999 season.

Cobleskill will next be in action on Saturday October 29th when they travel to Herkimer, NY to for the Region III Division III Championship Tournament Semifinals.
