FIGHTING TIGER MEN’S SOCCER TO HOST FINGER LAKES IN NJCAA
REGION III DIVISION III QUARTERFINALS ON TUESDAY AT COBLESKILL
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s soccer team will host Finger Lakes Community College on Tuesday October 23rd in the quarterfinals of the 2007 NJCAA Region III Division III Men’s Championship Tournament beginning at 3:00 PM at the college’s Cobleskill Soccer Complex. The number one seeded Fighting Tigers enter the tournament with a 15-1 overall record for the regular season earning the Co-Championship of the Mountain Valley Conference with a 6-1 league mark. Cobleskill is currently ranked fourth in the current NJCAA Division III National Poll, fifth in the latest NSCAA National Poll and first in the final NJCAA Region III Division III Coaches Poll of the year.
The number nine seeded Lakers are from the Mid States Conference and come to the tournament’s quarterfinals with a 12-7 overall record and advanced to Tuesday’s contest by virtue of defeating number eight seeded Alfred State College on Saturday October 20th on the Pioneers home field by score of 2-1 in the opening round. Cobleskill and Finger Lakes did not meet during the regular season this year.
The winner of Tuesday’s game will advance to the tournament’s semifinal round to be hosted by Tompkins-Cortland Community College in Dryden, NY on Saturday October 27th with the region’s championship game to be hosted the following day Sunday October 28th also at Tompkins-Cortland’s soccer facilities.
