COBLESKILL’S MAGLIORE TO BE HONORED AT NATIONAL SOCCER HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM’S BILL ATCHINSON JR. RECEPTION
SUNY Cobleskill men’s soccer team co-captain senior Menesky Magliore, Brooklyn, NY, Clara Barton High School, will be among a group honored by The National Soccer Hall of Fame and Museum at the institution’s inaugural Bill Atchinson Jr. Honors Reception on Sunday March 2nd. The reception is being held to celebrate local teams and individuals who have received national recognition for their play this past season.
The Fighting Tiger senior defender was the driving force behind the program’s success this season earning Second Team National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Adidas® (NSCAA) All-American Team honors while garnering First Team NJCAA All-Region III Division III Team acclaim and a spot on the 2007 All-Mountain Valley Conference Team. The Brooklyn, NY resident helped the Cobleskill defense post nine shutouts during the campaign allowing the opposition only 0.61 goals per game. Offensively during the season, Magliore scored a goal closing his career with two goals and two assists.
The reception also honors the memory of Bill Atchinson Jr. a highly respected Oneonta, NY resident who served the Hall of Fame as a founding Board of Directors member. He served on the Board of Directors through 2000 then was named Emeritus Board Member and continued as an advisor to the organization until he passed away in 2007. The evening’s keynote speaker will be University of Massachusetts Men’s Head Soccer Coach Sam Koch.
During the 2007 campaign: the Fighting Tigers posted a program best 16-2-1 overall record, tied for the 2007 Mountain Valley Conference Championship and finished the year as the NJCAA Region III Division III Runners-up for the second consecutive season. Cobleskill closed the season ranked fifth in the NJCAA Division III National Poll and fifth in the NSCAA/Adidas® Junior College Division Final Regular Season National Poll under the direction of Head Coach Robert Szmarz the 2007 NJCAA Region III Division III Coach-of-the-Year. |
