FRANCILLON NAMED FIGHTING TIGER ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK

The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced today that freshman Gilbert Francillon, Brooklyn, NY, Midwood High School, a member of the men’s soccer program as been selected as the athletic program’s Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week.

The talented mid fielder scored both goals in Cobleskill’s 2-1 upset victory over NJCAA number fifteen ranked Hudson Valley Community College on the Vikings home field in Troy, NY on Wednesday. Francillon tied the contest with 27:00 remaining in regulation to send the game to overtime then ended the contest with 7:57 remaining in the second overtime heading in the rebound of a missed Fighting Tiger shot. 

The victory was Cobleskill’s first over a ranked opponent since the 2000 season. The Fighting Tigers are currently 3-3-1 on the season with a 1-1-1 record in league play. Cobleskill returns to action on Wednesday September 21st when they host Mountain Valley Conference rival Fulton-Montgomery Community College with kick-off scheduled for 4:00 PM at the SUNY Cobleskill Soccer Complex.
