COBLESKILL MEN’S TENNIS DROPS 5-4 DECISION TO BROOME CC
With temperatures breaking into the upper 80’s the SUNY Cobleskill and Broome Community College men’s tennis teams engaged in a physically draining battle on Saturday afternoon at the Cobleskill Tennis Complex. When the dust had finally cleared, it was the Hornets emerging with a 5-4 decision over the Fighting Tigers. The loss drops Cobleskill’s overall record to 4-2 overall on the season.
Freshman Jeremy McMichael, Binghamton, NY, Susquehanna High School, was a winner at the number two singles slot for Cobleskill by scores of 6-3, 4-6 and 6-2 while senior captain Greg Klopfer, Voorheesville, NY, Voorheesville High School, remained unbeaten at the number three singles slot this season by scores of 6-1 and 6-3.
In doubles play, Jeremy McMichael teamed with senior John Hazelton, Greenville, NY, Greenville High School, to win at the number one doubles position by an 8-1 margin in a pro-set format. At the number two doubles spot; it was the tandem of Greg Klopfer and freshman Zak Kraehmer, Wallkill, NY, Wallkill High School, remaining unbeaten on the season taking the match by a score of 8-7 also in a pro-set format.
Cobleskill will next be in action on Tuesday April 22nd when they travel to Herkimer, NY to meet the Generals of Herkimer Community College for a Mountain Valley Conference contest beginning at 4:00 PM.
