FIGHTING TIGER TENNIS DROPS SEASON OPENER TO MONROE 7-2

The SUNY Cobleskill men’s tennis team opened the 2006 season on Sunday traveling to Rochester, NY to meet Region III powerhouse Monroe Community College. The Fighting Tigers dropped a 7-2 decision to the host Tribunes to fall to 0-1 on the season.

Freshman number one single Steve Weiss, Getzville, NY, Williamsville North High School, was victorious by scores of 6-2 and 6-2 and the Fighting Tiger number three doubles team of freshman Perry Gould, Cortlandt Manor, NY, Hendrick Hudson High School, and senior Justin Friedman, Dobbs Ferry, NY, Carmel High School, who took their match by an 8-6 margin.

The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Monday April 3rd when they meet defending NJCAA Region XXI champion Holyoke Community College from Holyoke, MA beginning at 4:00 PM.
