STEINER NAMED FIGHTING TIGER ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK

The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced today that freshman Andy Steiner, Perry, NY, Perry High School, a member of the men’s tennis team has been named the athletic program’s Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week.

Playing at the team’s number two singles position, Steiner posted an impressive win on Tuesday versus Mohawk Valley Community College by scores of 6-0 and 6-1 then on Saturday helped lead the Fighting Tigers to a 5-4 victory over defending NJCAA Region III Champion Broome Community College grinding out a three set victory by scores of 6-4, 4-6, and 7-6 (7-4).

Led by Steiner the Fighting Tigers are currently 6-2 on the season and have qualified for the NJCAA Region III Division III Tournament for the first time since the 1998 season.
