SUNY COBLESKILL AWARDED USTA GRANT TO HOST JUNIOR TENNIS CLINIC
SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Director/Physical Education Department Chairman Kevin McCarthy announced today that the United States Tennis Association (USTA) has awarded Cobleskill a grant to host a junior tennis clinic at the school’s tennis complex this summer. SUNY Cobleskill was the first college in Northern New York to be certified as a member of the USTA’s College Program and was honored with the association’s “2002 Making a Difference Collegiate Award”.
“Our partnership with the USTA has been of great benefit to our students and the entire Cobleskill/Schoharie County area,” said McCarthy. “This is an exciting program for us and the USTA to bring to the community and we are looking forward to it.”
The co-ed clinic will be open to all juniors of all playing levels between the ages of 12 and 17. It will be conducted on five consecutive Thursday evenings between the dates of July 15th thru August 12th with sessions from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the SUNY Cobleskill Tennis Complex. The program will be conducted under the direction of Fighting Tiger Head Tennis Coach John Tassone. A $5 registration fee will enroll a junior player in all five sessions. To receive registration information interested parties can reach coach Tassone at (518) 255-5120 or via e-mail at tassonjt@cobleskill.edu. |
