NORBERG NAMED FIGHTING TIGER ATHLETE-OF-THE-WEEK

The SUNY Cobleskill Athletic Department announced today that senior Derek Norberg, Middleburgh, NY, Middleburgh High School, a member of the men’s tennis program has been named the athletic program’s Fighting Tiger Athlete-of-the-Week.

Norberg won all three of his matches at the number three singles position during the week as Cobleskill took two of three matches defeating visiting Holyoke Community College on Monday by a 5-4 score, beating Mountain Valley Conference rival Delhi Tech in Delhi, NY on Wednesday by a 6-3 score then dropping an 8-1 decision to visiting Suffolk Community College on Saturday. Against Holyoke, the talented senior won by scores of  7-5 and 6-2, versus Delhi Tech he won by scores of 6-4 and 6-1 and on Saturday he captured a 10-point pro-set match by a score of 10-9 (15-13) for the Fighting Tigers sole win.

Led by Norberg the Fighting Tigers are currently 2-2 on the season with a 1-0 mark in Mountain Valley Conference play.
