FIGHTING TIGER MEN’S TRACK & FIELD PLACES THIRD AT 2007 NJCAA REGION III INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS
The SUNY Cobleskill men’s track & field program scored a total of 85 points to place third in a field of five teams at the 2007 NJCAA Region III Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the region at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, NY.
Three Fighting Tiger team members captured individual Region III Championships to earn spots on the 2007 NJCAA All-Region III Team at the event. Senior thrower Kyle Robinson, Canastota, NY, captured the 35 lbs. Weight Throw with a toss of 14.41 meters, freshman middle-distance runner Eric Graber, Troy, NY, Lansingburgh High School, was victorious in the 800 Meters in a time of 2:05.60 and freshman jumper Kevin Amilcar, White Plains, NY, White Plains High School, won the Long Jump with a mark of 6.55 meters.
On the track, Cobleskill received scoring efforts in the middle-distance and long-distance events from: senior Creig Levens, Berlin, NY, Berlin High School, who placed third in the 3000 Meters, 9:44.80, senior Brandon Gillis, Hudson, NY, Hudson High School, who was third in the Mile Run, 4:59.60, and sixth in the 1000 Meters, 3:01.40, freshman Jeff Dufel who was fourth in the in the Mile, 4:59.90, senior Jon Bates, Bronx, NY, Walton High School, who tied for fourth in the 400 Meters, 56.50 seconds, freshman Chris Franke, Otego, NY, Unatego High School, who was fifth in the 600 Meters, 1:34.20, freshman Jon O’Conner, Deposit, NY, Deposit High School, in fifth place in the 800 Meters, 2:17.60, and from freshman Kyle Kunes, Geneva, NY, Geneva High School, who placed fifth in the 5000 Meters, 19:04.40.
In the field events, Kyle Robinson was a multiple placer finishing third in the Shot Put with a mark of 12.51 meters, as was Kevin Amilcar who placed fourth in the High Jump at 1.85 meters. Senior Brian Keefe, Deposit, NY, Deposit High School, was also a scorer for the Fighting Tigers placing sixth in the Triple Jump with a leap of 11.19 meters.
In the relay events the Fighting Tiger Distance Medley Relay of: freshman Gerry Dunham, Middleburgh, NY, Middleburgh High School, freshman Dan Ballou, Kingston, NY, Kingston High School, Brandon Gillis and Creig Levens placed second overall in a time of 11:46.50 while the 4 X 800 Meter Relay of: Chris Franke, Gerry Dunham, Jeff Dufel, and Eric Graber also placed second in a time of 9:05.10.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action at the 2007 NJCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships hosted by Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX from Friday March 2nd through Saturday March 3rd. |
