COBLESKILL TRACK & FIELD COMPETES AT EAST STROUDSBURG STATE HALL-OF-FAME MEET
The SUNY Cobleskill track & field program continued to add to their successful season posting a number of national qualifying and school record setting performances at the 2007 Hall-of-Fame Invitational hosted by East Stroudsburg State University in East Stroudsburg, PA on Saturday.
Freshman multi-event athlete Jennifer Villanova, Clifton Park, NY, Shenendehowa High School, came off the injury list to explode onto the NJCAA women’s scene placing second in the Long Jump with the best mark in the nation this year today with a leap of 17’ ¼” meeting both the national qualifying standard in the event and establishing a new program record in the process. Villanova also qualified for the 2007 NJCAA Division III National Championships in the Triple Jump placing sixth with a mark of 33’2”.
The Fighting Tiger women also received a solid showing in the 3000 Meters from freshman distance runner April Ackermann, South Huntington, NY, Sullivan West High School, who placed sixth in the event with a time of 11:07.75.
The highlight of the afternoon for the Fighting Tiger men came in the 3000 Meters where senior NJCAA All-American Creig Levens, Berlin, NY, Berlin High School, added to his legacy by establishing a new program record in the event with a time of 9:27.30 good for seventh place overall.
Freshman Eric Graber, Troy, NY, Lansingburgh High School, continued his strong season meeting the national qualifying standard in the 800 Meters finishing seventh in a time of 2:00.10 while senior thrower Kyle Robinson, Canastota, NY, Canastota High School, turned in another solid showing finishing eighth in the Shot Put with a toss of 12.39 meters to meet the national qualifying standard in the event.
The Fighting Tigers will next be in action on Tuesday April 24th when they travel to Ithaca, NY for the Ithaca College Tri-Meet to be hosted at the college’s Butterfield Stadium beginning at 3:30 PM. |
