FIGHTING TIGERS GO THE DISTANCE AT BISON INVITATIONAL
The SUNY Cobleskill track & field program went to the Bison Invitational hosted by Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA over the weekend looking for additional NJCAA National Championship qualifying performances and seed time improvements. The result of the program’s trip to the Keystone State was exactly what the Fighting Tigers were looking for from the event.
Fighting Tiger distance runners led the way as four team members met the national standards in the 10,000 Meters. On the men’s side senior Jamie Julia-Perez, Amsterdam, NY, Amsterdam High School, turned in a time of 32:46.0 to hit the national standard as did fellow Fighting Tigers senior Bryan Morseman, Addison, NY, Addison High School, 32:57.3 and senior NJCAA All-American Kane Seamon, Richfield Springs, NY, Richfield Springs High School, 33:35.9. On the women’s side senior Emily Bertier, Union Bridge, MD, Francis Scott Key High School, who posted the best time in the NJCAA Division III this season to date completing the race in a time of 40:28.5.
Cobleskill also received a program record setting performance from freshman Greg Farley, Babylon, NY, Babylon High School, who broke his own program mark in the 110 Meter Hurdles in a time of 15.7 seconds to improve his national qualifying seed time. Farley also met the national qualifying mark in the 400 Meter Hurdles with a time of 58.0 seconds. The Fighting Tigers also received a strong effort from senior Asuerus Thompson, Newburgh, NY, Newburgh Free Academy, who met the national qualifying standards in the 110 Meter Hurdles, 16.2 seconds, and the 400Meter Hurdles, 57.2 seconds.
Cobleskill also received another strong showing from freshman thrower Jon Slegona, Ellenville, NY, Ellenville High School, who placed sixth in the Hammer Throw with a toss of 45.22 meters. Freshman Dan Laube, Chittenango, NY, Chittenango High School, also ran a personal collegiate best for the Fighting Tigers in the 400 Meters with a time of 53.6 seconds.
Cobleskill will travel next weekend to the Lafayette University Invitational on Saturday April 23rd in Easton, PA.
