MARTIN HONORED AT SUNY COBLESKILL ATHLETIC AWARDS CONVOCATION
Freshman Leslie Martin, Hudson Falls, NY, Hudson Falls High School, was named the Most-Valuable-Athlete for the SUNY Cobleskill women’s track & field program and the Most-Valuable-Player of the women’s basketball team at the college’s recent Athletic Awards Convocation.
On the track Martin established new program records in the High Jump, the Long Jump, the 100 Meter Hurdles, the 400 Meter Hurdles and the Heptathlon. The talented freshman won the NJCAA National Championship in the High Jump to earn All-American honors at the NJCAA Division III National Championships in Delhi, NY this spring. Martin also placed fourth in the Triple Jump and the Long Jump, fifth in the 100 Meter Hurdles and sixth in the 400 Meter Hurdles. Led by her performance the Fighting Tiger women placed seventh overall in a field of 21 teams at the nations.
On the basketball court the Hudson Falls native earned All-Mountain Valley Conference honors after averaging 14.0 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game as the Fighting Tiger finished the season with a 13-13 overall record. The Cobleskill improvement from the previous season’s 3-23 overall mark was one of the biggest turnarounds in junior college women’s basketball this year. |
