MARTIN NAMED SUNY COBLESKILL WOMEN’S TRACK 2005 MOST VALUABLE
Senior multi-event performer Leslie Martin, Hudson Falls, NY, Hudson Falls High School, has been named the SUNY Cobleskill women’s track & field program’s Most-Valuable-Athlete for the 2005 season. Martin was presented the award by Fighting Tiger Head Coach Brad Fichthorn at the college’s annual Athletic Awards Convocation.
The Hudson Falls High School alumnus scored 44 individual points, the most of any competitor in the event male or female, to lead the Fighting Tigers to a second place finish at the 2005 NJCAA Division III National Championships. Martin earned NJCAA All-American honors in three events winning individual national titles in the Heptathlon, 3053 points, and the High Jump, 1.58 meters, and placing second in the Pole Vault, 2.57 meter. She also placed in: the third in the 400 Meter Hurdles, 1:08.27, third in the 100 Meter Hurdles, 16.92, and seventh in the Long Jump, 4.90 Meters. Martin also ran legs on the Fighting Tigers 4 X 100 Meter Relay, third place 52.68 seconds, and the 4 X 400 Meter Relay, third place 4:18.16.
Behind her effort the Fighting Tigers posted a team score of 121 points to place second in the event for the second time in four years. The Fighting Tiger senior closes her career as a four-time NJCAA All-American and three-time NJCAA National Champion in outdoor track & field having won the national title in the High Jump at the 2004 NJCAA National Championships. |
